Reader’s Digest Collage #5: Precious
The illustration is pulled from an old, mildewy Reader’s Digest condensed book that my library was throwing out. The stickers are from Stickertopia: The Museum (which uses art by Katie Wilson and Julianna Swaney).
For anyone else who reads the snippets off to the side of the illustrations – I had to stop at the word “pogroms” and look it up. Pogrom (noun): “an organized massacre of a particular ethnic group, in particular that of Jews in Russia or eastern Europe.”
The page starts with hand-knitted goodies and a woman who’s precious in pink, but it ends with something more serious. I’m taking it as a reminder to be a kind human. There can be horrible stories under everyday fluff.
